Meet our amazing cast! They’re mega-talented and stars in the making. The charismatic Tom Oliver (Velvet, Marcia Hines Band, Wynnum Fringe) reprises his role as larrikin soldier Johnny. He’s joined by Brittanie Shipway (A Letter for Molly, The Lovers), as Johnny’s girlfriend Sarah, an anti-war protestor. Jerrod Smith(Heathers, The Lovers) is the crusading American marine Thomas and Christian Charisiou (Cry Baby, The Wedding Singer) the conscripted Australian soldier Andy. The theatrical powerhouse includes Imogen Moore(Frozen the Musical, The Rocky Horror Show, Muriel’s Wedding) and Sam Richardson (Frozen the Musical, Next to Normal).
THE CAST
In 2022 Brittanie won the prestigious Dreaming Award from Australia Council of the Arts for her writing. Her debut play, A Letter for Molly had its world premiere season at Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre with Brittanie playing the lead role, garnering 4-star reviews. The play was also a semi-finalist in the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award in 2021. Her latest play, Senser, was commissioned by Theatre Works where it debuted that same year. Currently Brittanie is developing a new Gumbaynggirr musical, Yellow Rock, which received one of the 2022 APRA AMCOS Professional Development Awards (Music Theatre) and a Koori grant from Create NSW.
Her other performance credits include: The Witch in Big Fish, Claire in Ordinary Days, Lauren in Kinky Boots, Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar, Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Bianca in Othello and in Sport for Jove’s epic Rose Riot.
Tom’s skills were sharpened on screen and stage and his showreel spans music, theatre, film, television and cabaret in Australia, the Pacific, Asia, Middle East, North America and Europe. Performance highlights include starring in the original touring production of rock-drama Rolling Thunder Vietnam (2014 – 2022) and alongside Marcia Hines in the global disco phenomenon, Velvet (2016 – 2022).
The creative nous accumulated over his decade-long performance career spurred Tom to establish the multi-day, multi-venue Wynnum Fringe Festival in 2020. The success of this inaugural event paved the way for its expansion in 2021, accompanied by a new flagship music festival, Rock The Bay. Under Tom’s artistic and business leadership, both major events collectively welcomed 40,000 visitors, employed more than 500 creative workers and injected $500,000 into the local economy.
Tom and his team then produced the inaugural Murarrie Muster: Brisbane's first Country Music Festival and opened the Bayside Music Hall, giving Bayside locals the chance to see world class entertainment in their own backyard. Recent high profile artists to tread the boards at Tom's events include Ian Moss, Kate Miller Heidke, Glenn Shorrock, Sarah Mcleod, Thirsty Merc, Dragon, Russell Morris, Eurogliders, Jem Cassar-Daley, Troy Cassar-Daley, Diesel, Marcia Hines, Dave Hughes, Georgie Carrol, Akmal Saleh, Cal Wilson and many more.
Tom remains rooted in the performing arts, reprising his scene-stealing role in The Little Red Company’s Christmas Actually (2018 – 2022) and serving as a core cast member and content producer for The IsoLate Late Show (2020), reaching 300,000 people during COVID lockdowns and raising more than $110,000 for The Actors’ & Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund. Tom has just returned to Australia after reprising his lead role in Velvet opposite Weather Girl, Ingrid Arthur in Germany's prestigious Hansa Variete Theatre Hamburg.
Other memorable roles include Romeo in Romeo & Juliet (2015), Mark Cohen in RENT (2018), Roderick Usher in A Midnight Visit (2019) and Jack in Into The Woods (2015).
On screen, Tom appeared on The Voice Australia (2015) and his version of Peter Allen’s I Go To Rio was used by Channel 7 during its Rio Olympics coverage (2016). He released original music co-written with Australian Idol winner Wes Carr and toured as a vocalist with Marcia Hines for A Day On The Green (2017).
Most recently, he won accolades for his breakout role as Robbie Hart in the hit touring musical comedy The Wedding Singer and in Jason Robert Brown’s intimate musical The Last Five Years at the Ensemble Theatre in 2019.
Christian appearedi in Griffin Theatre Company’s one-man tour of The Witches and the lead in Hayes Theatre Co-LPD’s bold, critically-acclaimed Cry-Baby The Musical, based on the cult classic 1990 John Waters’ film. Other credits include Theatron group’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Mop Head Productions The House or Ramon Iglesia and Good Grandson Productions’ two-hander Gruesome Playground Injuries. His screen credits include, Bull (2022), The Taverna (2020, Rake (2018) and Neighbours (2009). He has a number of award-winning independent short and feature films to his credit.
Christian is also an established voice artist and the artistic director & founder of Good Grandson Productions.

Most recently she appeared in the Australian production of Frozen the Musical for Disney Theatrical. Other credits include playing Janet Weiss in The Rocky Horror Show (John X Presents), Janine in the national tour of Muriel’s Wedding (Global Creatures), Minnie Faye in Hello Dolly!, and Oklahoma! (both for The Production Company), Hope Harcourt understudy in Anything Goes (Opera Australia and John Frost), Rolling Thunder Vietnam (Blake Entertainment), A Fine Romance: The Magic of Fred Astaire (JTM Productions), Disney Under the Stars (Live Nation), Antarctica (Tasmanian Theatre Co/ Sundog Productions), Follies - In Concert (Storeyboard Entertainment), Avenue Q (Prince Moo Productions), Scooby Doo Live! - Level Up and Musical Mysteries (Life Like Touring).
Imogen was also a top six finalist in the prestigious Rob Guest Endowment 2017 and the recipient of the Cassidy Bequest Scholarship for most promising new student during her time at VCA. She is a proud member of Actors Equity.
During his training, he performed as a featured soloist in ‘Morning Melodies 2019’ and graduated starring as ‘Joe Casey’ in Our House. In his second year at the VCA, Sam was the proud recipient of the Dr Andrew McAliece and Dr Richard Simmie Scholarship, and the Grace Marion Wilson Trust Scholarship.
Sam was mostly recently seen in Disney’s touring production of Frozen the Musical where he understudied the roles of Kristoff, Olaf and Weselton. Sam made his professional debut in the role of Gabe Goodman in James Terry Collective’s production of Next to Normal. He was also cast in JRP Australia’s production of Bonnie and Clyde where he understudied the roles of Clyde and Buck. Other credits include Scarlet, the concept recording (DHB theatrical) and the Adventures of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell in return to Pantoland (Bonnie Lythgoe productions).
